Why choose Renewable Diesel?

Onroute Truckstops is now supplying Renewable Diesel (HVO) at three of its Truckstops (Ulceby, Swindon and Junction 29).

This is an important step in our journey towards supplying new, cleaner energy sources and helping the industry reduce its dependence on traditional fossil fuels. So we were concerned when we overheard drivers discussing the disadvantages of using this fuel because ‘ it clogs up engines’. Let's check the facts.

Renewable Diesel does not contain FAME

Renewable Diesel does not contain Fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), which can have poor cold flow characteristics.

It is made from 100% renewable and sustainable feedstocks and is an excellent starting point for hauliers looking to move away from fossil fuels to reduce their carbon footprint.

Renewable Diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%.

It can also be used in place of conventional diesel without having to make any engine modifications and a wide range of vehicle manufacturers have approved the usage in their engines1.

The benefits of using Renewable Diesel

• Up to 90% greenhouse gas emission savings

• Can be used in its pure form or mixed with conventional fossil diesel

• No engine modifications required2

• Excellent cold flow properties and shelf life
